Who can become a Coach?
The answer to this question, I believe is virtually anybody.

What is the secret though?

  • A very high level of self-awareness
  • The ability to Listen, Listen, Listen

What qualities should a good Life Coach have?

  • Good Rapport: It is important you get to know and like your Coach, and maintain a good rapport, even if you do not agree on every issue.
  • Respect: The Coach should demonstrate respect at all times. Additionally, it is important you feel respect towards the experience, ability and demeanour of the coach.
  • Good Personality: An effective coach will be friendly, outgoing, enthusiastic and empathetic.
  • Confidence: A good coach will have confidence in themselves and with their coaching model so they can effectively inspire you to achieve more.
  • Experience: An experienced coach will have worked with different situations but specialise in a certain areas, or have developed a niche applicable to you.
  • Honesty: An honest coach will always be direct and honest with you, even when the truth is difficult to bear.Commitment: A good coach will be committed to their clients, demonstrating flexibility with time frames and constraints
  • Communication: An effective Coach will communicate well, listen accordingly, and speak when appropriate. A good rule of thimb for a coach to follow is the 80/20 rule – Listen 80% of the time and speak 20% of the time

A quote I love to use when talking about Presenting, Coaching, Mentoring, Debating or Public Speaking is:

STAND UP ,   SPEAK UP ,   SHUT UP!!!
