How do I decide on a Life Coach?
Ultimately, the deciding factor is you.
Your next task is to choose your Life Coach. Here are some tips before you enroll a Life Coach:
Do a little research on your Life Coach -
- Introduction – Find out if they offer a free intake session by telephone? Use this to see if a good rapport is likely.
- Coach’s Background – What did they do before becoming a Coach? Were they involved with the development of people in some way.
- Insurance – Does the Life Coach have adequate Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance? Do they follow a code of ethics?
- Relevant Experience – To be effective at coaching, a Coach should be actively practicing on an on-going basis.
- Other experience – A Coach does not need to have experienced exactly the same situation as you, but will have the ability to empathise with your situation.
- Coaching Commitment – Try and establish if they are committed to the Coaching process, whether it is a part-time or full-time.
- Coaching Qualifications – Coach Training is necessary as it separates the authentic coaches from the chancers and cowboys we see in the professional arena. A good Coach will not stop with the basic training; they will continuously endeavour to enhance their credentials, education and their professional and personal development.
- Accreditation – A Coach in Ireland will be accredited by a coaching organisation such as the LBCAI.
