Authenticity – Be yourself
If you are anybody else as you are pitching for contracts, selling your wares, communicating a message, or asking to be paid, then you are not yourself! The only person that has control over how you portray yourself and your business is you. Originality, authenticity, individuality is the one thing that can separate you from your competitors, so why try and BE like someone else, or another business? The business world doesn’t need a clone of companies to choose from, they need that something special that only the business owner can provide.

I awake. I open my eyes and just for a moment think I am still in my dream. All I see is a beautiful blue sky with fluffy clouds… oh yes, and the 3 contrails of airplanes criss-crossing each other from left to right.
I then realise I am not in my dream but in my bed, awakening to the view directly above me through my Velux window. The air is clear and quiet. So much so that I could hear the rumble of one of the jet planes.

There is a lot of misunderstanding and confusion out there about Coaching and what it actually is. If you Wiki Life Coaching (“Life Coaching is a future-focused practice with the aim of helping clients determine and achieve personal goals”), Personal Coaching (“Personal Coaching is a relationship which is designed and defined in a relationship agreement between a client and a coach. It is based on the client’s expressed interests, goals and objectives”) or Business Coaching (“Business coaching is the practice of providing positive support and positive feedback while offering occasional advice to an individual or group in order to help them recognize ways in which they can improve the effectiveness of their business”), the explanations are nothing to be desired, as Coaching will mean many different things to many different people, and it is completely subjective.

First things first – Set your goals
Yes we all know that we need to make lists – but I am talking about something different. Goal setting can be an arduous but profound experience. See my Blog called Goal Setting below on how to set SMART goals.
Once your goals have been set, it’s important to maintain momentum and flair!
Don’t be just normal
Aim high and try to stretch above the norm. Imagine yourself as a strong elastic band (not the type you find around a bunch of scallions), a really strong elastic. Imagine stretching that elastic and watch it grow in size – that’s what we do when we learn and grow. There is no limit to our elasticity, because each time we grow, our elastic band regenerates itself to grow more.
